When Is The Perfect Moment To Start A Business?

Let me get straight to the point – there is no “perfect” moment to start a business. Most people think that there is going to be some shining light from they sky, all the stars will align, and they will just know that “now it’s time”. I’m here to tell you that day will never happen. There will never be “just the right amount” of time, money, networking, or whatever that will be perfectly ideal for you to start a business. In fact, there’s probably a worse moment to start a business in the future because you’ll have less time to accomplish your goals.

Develop Along The Way

Whatever your situation – even if you’re broke – it’s better to start a business than not start a one. At this very moment, you can learn all the skills you need in order to begin helping other people (your future clients).

This is not theory talking either, this is just what I did when I left college. I created a company with no money, no real skills, and began selling.

You can do this as well. You can begin at a basic level, creating videos, doing sales calls, practicing the best ways to brand yourself, and gathering data. When you’ve developed these skills, you can talk to your audience and find out what their biggest frustrations, hopes, and setbacks are, then try to solve them.

Listen To Your Audience, Then Make Adjustments

If you’re doing what you’re supposed to, you may already have an audience to train with because you’ve been doing videos for a while.

If you’ve focused more on sales calls, you probably have a wealth of data on which to start your business. The truth is you need this data to begin accumulating a real income.

The reason for this is nobody can guess what people are actually willing to pay for in a given niche without the data to back it up. Business is not a matter of guessing. It’s a matter of discovering the real market potential of an idea by being a part of that market.

Get The Urgent Need To Start A Business

So develop a sense of urgency. This will highly increase your chances of success. All too often, I see the opposite of urgency in clients – I see excuse-making.

It often goes something like this, “I have plenty of time, I’m still getting money from the government, I’m going to school, I’m in my early-20’s, I have my whole life ahead of me, I can do it later, etc.”

Time Waits For No Man

Sure, you’ve got time now, but what will happen in the future? You’ll probably just talk more and do less. Everybody can talk, but no one has a sense of urgency if you ask most people you come in contact with.

“I’ll do it in my 30’s, I’ll do it when I’m establish, blah blah”. Well, the sad truth is by then you’ll be aging much faster than you are now. Somewhere along the line, it will be too late.

Now of course there are success stories from people who’ve started a business in their 60’s and 70’s, but why would you want to wait that long? Why not reap the benefits of a great business when you can still travel, build a purposeful life, and enjoy decades of the fruits of your labor?

The Perfect Moment Is Now

Forget about the perfect time – begin implementing now. And that doesn’t mean just start reading more books or getting more “educated”.

It means doing the work. Reading books doesn’t mean shit if you’re not implementing the lessons learned in them, especially when you’re building a business. You will learn much faster by doing than by talking, reading, theorizing, discussing, or anything else for that matter.

In fact, all those things are a complete waste of time if you’re not implementing. Spend 90% of your time doing and 10% on anything else. This is the closest thing to perfection any person in business can hope for.
