Don’t Be Shy – How Spread Your Business Message To The World

A lot of newer entrepreneurs treat starting a business like it’s a coveted secret, only to be told to a select few of extremely trusted confidants (or people who are paying to start the company). These young businesspeople imagine themselves quietly sitting in their office, protecting their “secret” like it’s Gollum’s ‘precious’ in Lord of the Rings. They think that if people know what they’re up to, if people really knew the message of their new company, it would be so embarrassing. In reality, it’s not like that at ALL… Spread your business message to the world, and not only will you be rewarded, you will actually reward others with your effort.

Spread Your Business Message To Allies First

The people around you, or more specifically the people that you want around you when you are starting a business are not going to HATE you for starting a company. If anything, they are going to be energized and extremely curious. If you’re the type of person that has passion and vigor for something that you love, and couple it with a bit of specialized knowledge and work ethic – what businessperson in your industry would not be interested in your message?

No one is going to embody that nightmare that your current mind is telling you. No one is going to say, “No! Starting your business is bad! Stop it right this instant! You should live on Main Street, get a white picket fence and a dog and live paycheck-to-paycheck like the rest of us!” I have to break it to you, this nightmare simply does not exist.

The people you want around you in your budding entrepreneurship are going to support you, all things being equal. With this in mind, my question to you is: do your parents know what kind of business you run? Do your friends from grammar school know what kind of business your run? Does your grandmother know what kind of business you run? What important people in your life know what you’re up to in the world of entrepreneurship? Are you building a network of interest around your company even if it’s just with the loved ones of your life? This is the beginning of spreading your business message to the world.

Your Allies Are Your Early Brand Ambassadors

Your loved ones and intrigued business colleagues are your early brand ambassadors. These are the people who are going to believe in you even before you have a good message – maybe even before you have a good idea! These are the people who are less concerned with your initial revenue and care more about the heart and soul of your business, in other words what you can do for the world in the long term. So, spread your business message to the people “in your corner” from the outset. Tell these folks exactly what you plan to do, what your company is all about, and what you will achieve given the right implementation (the second half of your responsibility)!

The one disclaimer here is, don’t do it just because you want to appear like you’re doing “something”. Many people fall into this trap of broadcasting an idea simply to get validation from their peers or family that they’re up to some sort of action. If you can recognize that you’re one of these ‘people-pleasing’ types, and have trouble implementing after you’re spread your business message, it is best to wait until you’ve actually taken some action towards your goals and then tell the people around you what you’re up to.

Are You Ashamed To Spread Your Business Message?

You may want to ask yourself, “If my parents or friends know what kind of business I’m going to be running, would they be a bit ashamed of me? Would I bit a bit ashamed of myself?” This fear has stopped many great ideas in the fields of industry. I suggest you flip this negative thinking on its head and ask yourself, could they be pleasantly SURPRISED by what I’m doing? Could I surprise myself? Perhaps they would be proactively encouraging in their reaction and actually help you get closer to your goals – consider it.

Are you making a business that’s going to make a change in the world? Are you doing something that is going to lift people up? If you focus on what you are doing to contribute value to society and humanity as a whole – why SHOULD you be ashamed to tell people?

A lot of prospective entrepreneurs that I meet, people in my mastermind, or posters on my videos seem a bit ashamed of their business. They exude this shyness and apprehension that people are going to laugh at them if they communicate their business message to the world.

The truth of the matter is that other people are really focused on their own lives. They really are more concerned with their own well-being and where their next dollar is coming from. They don’t have time to be thinking about the day-to-day grind of your life and company and how they can screw you over or judge you. They don’t even really notice unless you achieve success.

Just Try It Out For A Month

So, work out your idea and initial message. Try it out on everyone, especially your allies and early interested parties, and then implement – hard. Just freaking do it. The beauty of this is that most people don’t implement. Your competition is much smaller than you think. Most people just think about what they could do, but don’t actually do anything. Don’t be that guy. Be the person that implements. Just try it out for one month and see what happens, okay?

I’ve never seen someone really put themselves out there, I mean really bust their behind for a month, and not come to a level of success. I’ve never seen anyone really spread their message, implement at a high and consistent level, and not have a measure of return on their investment for their hard work and expertise. I’ve never seen anyone try this out for one month and say – “Oh MAN! I REALLY wasted my there, wooo… what a big waste… I didn’t learn ANYTHING!”

That’s because it never happens, and never will. So spread your message. Get out there, folks.
