All the people I know that have success in business have a bigger reason to do their work than for themselves and small reasons. All the people that have made it, meaning earn six figures or more each year in their business, have a reason more than just wanting to get the end goal. They want to feel a certain way or help a certain people like a family member.
Why would you work for a non-profit organization? It does not pay a lot of money so it must be about more than the money. A pharmacist liked his job but told me he did not want to do it for the rest of his life. His passion was about helping people so he got into a non-profit organization as an employee.

How much can you achieve as an employee in a non-profit organization?
You can help maybe 20 people per month possibly. You cannot help a large amount of people as an employee because you do not have money, you do not have influence, and no one listens to. Do you need to be a non-profit organization to help people? I do not think so.
Steve Jobs did not believe in non-profits because he believed that in a business you can employ 5 million people. You do not need to give them money, food, or have the government pay for their education, but they can help themselves and will want to help themselves. As a company you can help millions of people if you grow.
In Europe there is a belief that companies and corporations are evil. Who is paying for everything? The people are paying for everything with the money they got from being in this process called a corporation. I do not want to work in a corporation, but I want to build a corporation. You can want to build a billion-dollar company, or you can have an ambition to be an employee. However, if you actually want to have influence and help the world, you will need to go and build something that is not just for yourself, but has a community of people that are working together on a similar goal. This is the best way to work on anything.
Build and create
Some people may say that the government is doing that, but governments are super inefficient and do not work. It is even more complicated with governments in Belgium. Governments keep raising taxes but they keep spending the money in inefficient ways and people who do not deserve power, get power. In companies though, we are dedicated to making things work in the market. The market will always vote with money. This is what I love telling a lot of European people: money is the ultimate vote because if you are buying something you are essentially voting for it.
As an entrepreneur this is the best kind of change I believe in because it is people helping themselves, you can improve people’s lives, and you can create awesome things, you can create influence, you can travel.
