How To Start A Business With No Money (Live Speech)

I believe everyone attains happiness, not through trying to attain happiness by making everything secure and travelling on the path that is safe, but in a different way. If you truly want to have happiness and cool stuff happening in your life rather than the boring, old, beaten path that everyone seems to travel, then you need to hustle for the rest of your life until you die.

Why does this sound bad to most people? Why do most people not want to work for the rest of their life?

If a person is 20 years old they do not know what being 60 feels like. They can see what grandparents and other 60-year-olds live their life like, but cannot see an alternative from this path.

I was fortunate enough, thanks to mentors, books, and through talking and meeting very successful people, that I saw there was a different path: hustling every day of your life and working on something you want to do. These people were not forced to do something they hated every day and were not forced to go through traffic, arrive at some job, and help some guy build his dream.

Some people feel they are forced to do this while meanwhile, the company they work for makes billions of dollars and the employee is just a little part in the machine. Other than companies like Google, 99.9% of the time employees are just tiny parts of the machine.

I was a consultant and hired hundreds of people for companies so I can tell you that if you are being hired, you are a small piece in the machine. This is the definition of a job for most companies. This is why I believe that if you want that happiness and fulfillment in your life, you should not even try to go down that path. I think you can completely avoid the whole “job” situation and this “path to hell,” as I call it, and go straight into entrepreneurship.

Sales is a skill that is necessary in almost any kind of business that you run. Even for obscure businesses like Instagram for example: when there were 15 people in the company and it was worth at $1 billion, did the founders of Instagram need the skill of sales if they were just running an app, people were downloading the app, and then they got money from investors? How do they get money from investors? You sit in a room and use pitching and sales skills. In almost every business ever you will need sales skills

The thing I see over and over with people who succeed is they free up their time.

You may have a job, go to school, have a girlfriend or boyfriend, go to a church and still have time. To get in to business you need time. Some people read the book the Four Hour Work Week and think that four hours is easy enough to find to make stuff happen and learn all the necessary skills to start a business. What happens is they have a misconception that they can just make stuff happen and learn everything they need to know in 4 hours per week.
The first thing you need is 4 hours per day as a bare minimum to get a few hundred dollars online. In the beginning you will not be going from $0-$3000 per month over a period of 2-3 weeks. For most people this will not happen especially if they start out with no skills. I work with 325 people and coach them from nothing to owning a business. Not a single one was working 4 hours per week and achieving anything ever.

One guy worked at a non-profit as a pharmacist with no experience in sales or business, so we told him to start doing sales calls. Each day he would come home and do his calls/hours and he learned quickly by using the scientific method, trial-and-error, and comparing results. In 3 months he turned his sales calls into 10 clients paying 600 British pounds/month. He was persistent, learned faster than the average person, and he used a working business model.

If you are starting a business, a big issue is that most people believe in the idea.

You read articles about Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg having an idea, but this does not matter when you are just starting out. Most of these ideas are all useless because you have no business experience and do not know how the world works.

When I graduated college I thought I knew how the world works because I had learned 4 years of business and I could write some reports. I also thought I could do sales because marketing and sales were similar, right?

The path is to find a working business model.

This does not make you rely on getting a good idea without any business experience. If you have a job and you have been in an industry for 5-10 years as being an account manager at an agency, to me, that does count as business experience It is not necessarily great experience, but it is still dealing with businesses, sales, and delivering products.
Go find a working business model and work it to the letter until you die. The first few years I believed in the idea, I went into debt because I got sales but Belgium taxes you even if you don’t make a profit so I incurred debt. The genius idea was to sell some kind of videos to companies. Some bought it, but no one really paid a lot for it.

After this, I eventually found someone on a forum online and he said he already ran a business and explained it was drop-shipping. He sold hand-carved wooden objects to people all over the world and I had no idea what he was talking about. I worked with him and when he told me what to do, I got sales and learned from him.

I learned all the techniques he was teaching me and went to local companies and tried selling them something else based on my experience, not based on the idea. They started buying from me and around 2010 I first became profitable. Find a working business model – not just a click this button and the machine will generate you money, this is not a working business model.

A working business model needs:

For a working business model you need to sell something, know how to sell, and know who to sell to and how to get their contact information. With the people we are working with right now, these are the three things I give them in the beginning. Once they get sales and experience from delivering a product to a client and dealing with all those problems, that is when we teach them all the other stuff they need to know if their business.

At first you need these three things and then after you can learn all the other complicated things like Facebook ads, investing $5,000 into advertisements, and earnings per click being more than your investment. When I see people with no experience succeeding they are just following basic business models that work.
